Year-round beautiful weather makes Florida the ideal place for family fun. With so many exciting activities for kids, there really is something to appeal to every personality and age group. Here are five unique examples from DAS Demo that are sure to make your kids smile.
For the son or daughter that truly has their head in the clouds, Kennedy Space Center offers an awe-inspiring glimpse into space exploration. Located near Orlando, the Center offers a simulated launch experience, exhibits, shows, IMAX space films, and tours of the Center and nearby space shuttle launch pad in Cape Canaveral. Kids can even ask questions to real-live veteran astronauts.
The Daytona 500, the annual race between the world’s top stock car drivers, offers non-stop thrills during the month of February. As NASCAR’s largest event, the Daytona 500 gives families the opportunity to camp in designated areas. If you can’t make the 500 race, there are plenty of other racing events to choose from at the Daytona International Speedway.
Perhaps the most famous destination for kids is Disney’s Magic Kingdom, but the park offers plenty of fun for adults as well. The Magic Kingdom in Orlando offers an all-encompassing experience, from food to shopping to entertainment to education. There are rides for kids of all ages. Classic rides such as It’s a Small World, The Haunted Mansion, and Space Mountain are truly one-of-a-kind.
Looking to cool off? Another popular Orlando destination is the Wet’n Wild theme park. Wet’n Wild is ideal on extremely hot days, offering a variety of water-filled entertainment in the form of lagoons, peaceful streams, and slides. Kids can battle the waves in the Surf Lagoon wave pool while you drift along a slow-moving river-- or perhaps practice your wake-boarding technique.
For the future marine biologist, Miami Seaquarium is the perfect spot. Your child can swim with dolphins, marvel at killer whales, and even feed sea lions. In between shows, numerous exhibits, including sea turtles, manatees, sharks, alligators, and other fish engage, educate, and entertain.
These five destinations are just a sampling of Florida’s best kid-friendly attractions. If money is an issue, be aware that most of these places offer group rates and other ticket options. Of course, you can always just pack up the kids and drive to the nearest pool, lake, or beach for an afternoon of inexpensive fun.
