Nissan introduced the world to the first crossover supercar in 2011 with its Juke-R, a combination of the engine and running gear from Nissan’s GT-R sports car mixed with its innovative Juke. Now, four years later, Nissan has boosted the Juke-R’s supercar status once again by upgrading it into the Juke-R 2.0.
Displayed for the first time at this year’s Festival of Speed in England, attendees had the opportunity to witness the newest edition of the crossover supercar’s debut. Nissan GT Academy graduate and Le Mans 24 Hours driver Jann Mardenborough drove the Juke-R 2.0 all three days of the event through Goodwood’s legendary Hillclimb course.
The Juke-R 2.0’s release comes after that of the redesigned Juke, released in Europe in 2014. As Gareth Dunsmore, Marketing Communications general manager for Nissan Europe, said, “…with the launch of the latest JUKE model last year, it was the natural choice to upgrade the original JUKE-R with added power and even bolder styling.”
Speaking of upgrades, drivers will find the Juke-R 2.0 can deliver a hefty 600 hp, which requires a host of other changes from the previous model, from larger cooling apertures in the front bumper to integrated bare carbon engine cooling ducts in the hood. A number of the new Juke’s parts are manufactured from carbon fiber, including the front and back bumper, the side sills, and the rear winglets.
As a whole, the Juke-R 2.0 has received upgrades inside and out. It’s more stylish, more aggressive, and more powerful than its predecessor, and perfectly demonstrates Nissan’s dedication to making cars that drive even better than they look.
The Juke-R 2.0 isn't yet available, but be sure to stop by DAS Demo to test-drive other Nissan models today.
